Rules of every game
- Columns build down one rank at a time, from the king down to the ace (aces are low)
- A foundation starts with an ace and goes 2, 3 … up to the king of the same suit; every card home wins
- Undo as often as you like - the clock keeps running and the result shows how many times you undid
- The clock starts when the cards are dealt and has no pause (the time is the score); a game lasts 60 minutes at most
Klondike
- Seven columns of 1 to 7 cards, only the top card face up; the other 24 cards are the stock
- Build down in alternate colours - a red nine on a black ten - and move a built run as a whole
- Only a king (or a run starting with a king) goes into an empty column
- Tap the stock to turn one card at a time; once it is empty, tap again to turn the waste over, as often as you like
- A card can come back from a foundation to a column if it fits
- Once every card in the columns is face up, the Finish button appears: it sends everything home at once
Spider
- Two decks, 104 cards, ten columns (the first four have 6 cards, the rest 5), top cards face up; the other 50 are the stock, dealt five times
- Any card goes on a card one rank higher, whatever its suit, but several cards move together only when they are one suit
- Any card or run goes into an empty column
- Tap the stock to deal a new row, one card per column - only when no column is empty
- A full king-to-ace run of one suit leaves the table by itself; eight of them win
- One suit = all spades (easier) · two suits = spades and hearts
FreeCell
- All 52 cards face up in eight columns, plus four free cells that hold one card each
- Build down in alternate colours; any card goes into an empty column
- Cards move one at a time, but the game moves a run for you when there is room: at most (empty free cells + 1) × 2 to the power of the empty columns
- Cards on the foundations never come back
Buttons
| Undo | Takes back the last action (turning the stock and dealing a row included), all the way back to the deal |
|---|---|
| Hint | Shows a card worth moving and where: cards home first, then a move that turns a card over, then the stock |
| Finish | Klondike: once no card in the columns is face down · FreeCell: once every column is in alternate-colour order · the game then sends every card home |
| New deal | In the middle of a game it asks for a second tap; the game you were playing does not count |
The time table
Only won games go on the table, one table per game (Klondike, Spider one suit, Spider two suits, FreeCell), ranked by the time from the deal to the last card home, fastest first; equal times go to the earlier game · Enter a name (2-20 characters) and a country: the time joins the world table and your country's table, which show each name's best · Every deal comes from a seed the server issued, so the server deals the same cards, replays every move, checks that every card really went home and compares the game's clock with the real time since the deal. A game that does not match does not go on the table.
Tips
- Klondike: free the column with the most face-down cards first, and do not empty a column until a king can go there
- Spider: build in suit whenever you can and keep empty columns for shuffling cards; tidy the columns before dealing a new row
- FreeCell: free cells are precious - never fill them all; every empty column doubles the run you can move
